The Foundation has offered programs benefiting Wake Tech employees and students since 1988. These programs include the Excellence Awards, Tuition Assistance, instructional equipment, program support, Emergency Financial Aid and scholarships. Support for these programs is provided by corporations, foundations, and individuals from throughout the county, state and country.
PROGRAMS FOR EMPLOYEES
The Tuition Assistance program offers grants for continuing education and professional development to enable Wake Tech faculty and staff to stay on the cutting edge of their respective disciplines and advance their skills and educational goals. The Wake Tech Foundation administers this program, funded by the Wake Tech Employee Campaign. A gift to the Employee Campaign qualifies you for participation in the Tuition Assistance program.*
*Other qualifications apply. For a complete list of requirements and program guidelines, visit Tuition Assistance.
Excellence in Teaching and Service Awards recognize the exemplary contributions made by faculty and staff to the college and the community. Each year, Wake Tech faculty and staff representing all areas of the college are selected through a peer nomination and evaluation process. The Excellence Awards Dinner is held each Spring and culminates with the naming of the year’s Instructor of the Year and Staff Member of the Year – the college’s highest honors. A gift to the Employee Campaign qualifies you for the cash gift which accompanies an Excellence Award.
PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS
Scholarships and Emergency Financial Aid
Each year, the Foundation helps students stay on track with their education by providing emergency financial aid loans, financial need scholarships and merit scholarships. The Foundation provides emergency financial aid funding to students who have maintained good academic records but who experience crisis situations that threaten to erase months or even years of progress towards a degree. Employees can directly support student assistance with a contribution to The Student Scholarship Fund .
Fostering Bright Futures
Now in its third year, this program is helping young adults who have transitioned out of Wake County’s foster care system. FBFF supports these individuals as they endeavor to attend college, learn vital life skills, and achieve lifelong independence. The objective of the FBFF program is to eliminate barriers that would typically derail these students from meeting educational and life goals.
The Wake Tech Foundation works to develop support for Wake Tech’s academic departments. This support often comes in the form of in-kind donations, providing much needed instructional equipment, materials and program resources. Employees can designate their Employee Campaign contributions to a departmental fund, a scholarship, the Wake Tech Fund or another named fund of their choosing.
